Manor House, Lower Rawtonstall, Blackshawhead, Hebden Bridge HX7 7JR
We live in a 16th century hall house, which has undergone several changes over the centuries. It was built by the Manor of Wakefield, 500 foot above the damp floor of the valley at Rawtonstall, as a "branch office" for cattle rearing. (A tonstall was a cattle farm; Heptonstall is on the next hill top.) Over time, a floor and internal wall have been added. Next came an 18th century addition. Finally we added a studio apartment in 2007.
